Adopt-A-Greenway

What is Adopt-A-Greenway?

The Adopt-a-Greenway program is one more way RiverLink supports a cleaner, safer, better community by giving local residents and businesses the tools to get actively involved in caring for a section of local park or greenway. Think of it as a walk in the park with litter pickup on the agenda!

What do I Have to do?

Minimum of 2 cleanups per year
Report any related issues/problems to RiverLink

Who Can Participate?

Like Adopt-A-Stream teams, Adopt-A-Greenway Teams may include individuals, communities, families, student organizations, youth and church groups, scout groups, civic organizations, businesses and industries.

Want to get Involved?

  1. Contact RiverLink’s Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@riverlink.org or (828) 252-8474 ext. 17 to request information and find out which sections of greenway are available for adoption.  Please specify if you have a specific area in mind.
  2. After a greenway section has been determined, contact RiverLink and we’ll arrange your first cleanup.
  3. Prior to each scheduled stream cleanup, volunteers are asked to contact RiverLink at least 1 week in advance to arrange the pickup of gloves, trash bags, pick up litter sticks and other materials.
  4. Upon completion of each cleanup, volunteers are asked to complete cleanup reports and  email to volunteer@riverlink.org, bring them to the office when returning supplies, or mail it back to RiverLink at 170 Lyman St/Asheville NC 28801.
  5. Pat yourself on the back!  Thank you for your time and dedication to help protect and improve the greenway experience for your neighbors and friends!
