RiverMusic — five Friday nights of free (!) live concerts by the French Broad River in the River Arts District of Asheville — returns for a third year in 2014. RiverLink has teamed up with Heira Productions to assemble a top-notch mix of quality national acts and local favorites at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza in the River Arts District (map).

Gates for all events open at 5:00 p.m. and the party goes until 10. There will be beer from local craft brewers, food trucks, live music from local and national acts, and the waters of the beautiful French Broad flowing right by the stage.

Take the Trolleys!

Trolleys will run loops continually from 5 — 10 p.m. for this concert with pickups/dropoffs in three locations:

  • In West Asheville, there will be service at Grace Baptist Church, 718 Haywood Road (map). The Grace parking area is towards the rear of the building. Parking is not allowed in the bank lot.
  • On the other side of the river, the trolley stop will be the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, 36 Montford Ave (map).
  • And further south, there will be a trolley stop at 63 Brook St, the new home of Catawba Brewing (map).

Our remaining 2014 lineup:

Saturday, August 9 – RiverFest features “Soldier’s Heart,” “Ashley Heath” and Plankeye Peggy.

Friday, August 29 – Classic Rock and Blues hit the stage with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and member of Lynard Skynard, “The Artimus Pyle Band.” Opening act is “Andrew Scotchie and the River Rats.”

And  finally on Sept. 12, we wrap it all up with another great bluegrass evening featuring “Fruition” and “The Fireside Collective.”
