WLOS: Asheville residents offer input on zoning code for River Arts District

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The city of Asheville met with the public Wednesday night to discuss a draft for a new zoning code in the River Arts District.
The city wants to move toward a form-based zoning code because it would allow housing and retail businesses to be in the same area.

According to a news release, the code would complement the River Arts District Transportation Improvement Project.
A local resident said he went to the meeting to get more information on the code.
“I’m concerned whats going on in the neighborhood,” Arthur Lee Hall said. “I want to know what’s going on with the riverfront and development. Being a citizen, I think I should know that.”

If you did not make it to the meeting tonight, don’t worry. There’s still time to give feedback by emailing SVrtunski@ashevillenc.gov. Public comment will be taken through Jan. 20.
