It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel all of our RiverCamp sessions for this summer. Due to the nature of our camp we feel that we do not have the resources or capacity to host campers in a safe and socially responsible manner. Guidance from the CDC and American Camp Association recommends that camps like ours implement strict sanitation, testing, and social distancing practices. Our camps limited staff and reliance on field trips in a 15 passenger van make these recommendations very difficult to execute.
For those of you who have already registered for a camp session, we will be providing full refunds. We will be reaching out to you in the next week to confirm your mailing address so we can send you a refund check. RiverCamp fees typically help fund our free in-school education program. If you’re able please consider donating a small portion of your registration fee to help us educate the next generation of watershed stewards.
We understand that for many camp is a crucial service during the summer that provides enrichment for your kids, and childcare services for parents. In an effort to provide a scaled down version of these services we will be hosting small scale stream exploration sessions throughout the summer. At these events RiverLink staff will meet participants at a stream site and guide them through a scientific investigation of the stream. Sessions will last for a couple hours and parents are welcome to join their kids or drop them off. We plan to have more information about these events at the beginning of June.
