Create your stream team today

Adopt-A-Stream is a flexible program that allows teams to contribute to a healthier watershed on their schedule. Each Adopt-A-Stream team is assigned a specific stretch of stream or river which they are responsible for cleaning at least 3 times per year. Once you’ve completed your third cleanup, RiverLink will work with the City of Asheville to install a roadside sign indicating your team’s commitment to your waterway. RiverLink will also provide all of the supplies your teams needs to host an effective stream cleanup.

For teams looking to get more involved, you can also conduct stream monitoring for your waterway, and storm drain marking for the surrounding neighborhood. These activities will allow RiverLink and your group to get a bigger picture of your stream’s health as well as reduce pollution levels by raising awareness.

This program is a fantastic way to give back to your community and promote your group as watershed stewards. It also encourages teambuilding within your group making it a wonderful option for businesses, church groups, clubs etc. It’s hard not to bond with someone when you’re removing a full toilet from a beautiful creek together.
