Eli Johnson

Eli grew up in the mountains of upstate New York, and spent most of his childhood splashing in the creek, hiking, camping, and skiing.  After graduating high school, he moved down to Asheville, NC to attend Warren Wilson College.  Eli majored in Outdoor Leadership, and spent his summers working on trail crews in Oregon state.  

Eli’s love for nature and the environment started in elementary school, when he attended a Waldorf school that was very focused on incorporating place-based learning and art into education.  He now loves finding ways to use art and materials from the natural world to teach about the environment.  As an AmeriCorps member at RiverLink, Eli hopes to expand his knowledge of Western North Carolina and become more connected with the local community.  

In his free time, Eli likes to fly fish, camp, make crafts, go to punk shows, and play with his two cats.  He is also working on getting his paramedic license, and is very interested in emergency and wilderness medicine.
